bonstrosity: Emo!Drunken!Hobo Supes (Lawrence)
Are you careful with the spines? Or do you crack your books open to make them lay flat?
CAREFUL. Especially with my own books. I'm always at mom for creasing the spine of library books.
However, if a book will lay flat on its own? I let it do that if I need to. Otherwise, I hold and am careful.

Do you use bookmarks? Or do you dog-ear the corners? If you do use bookmarks, do you use those fashionable metal ones? Or paper?
Bookmark. Dog-earing RUINS THE PAGES! Eff that noise.
I do not use fashionable ones. I have 2 bookmarks, both cardboard. One features Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation. The other is a magnet one that [insanejournal.com profile] soft_princess got me while here, it has a bison on it. :D

Do you write in your books? Ever? If you do, do you make small marks, or write in as much blank space as you can find? Pen or pencil? Highlighter? Your name on the front page?
No. I did in college, though, but that's cause hi, you need to highlight sometimes.

Do you toss your books on the floor? Into book bags? Or do you treat them tenderly, with respect?
Tenderly!!!!! If a book lands on the floor I pick it up. And pet it.

Do you ever lay your book face-down, to save your place?
Sometimes, but only if I will hurry back. Because yes, anal about not hurting books.

Um--water? Do you bathe with your books? Hold them with wet hands? Read out in the rain? Anything of that sort?
I once bathed while reading. It's a pain in the ass for someone who's anal about taking care of books lol.
If my hands are wet, and I want to read, I damn well dry them.

Are your books lined up on a bookshelf? Or crammed in any which way? Stacked on the floor?
WAH. They are in storage. Except for the HP books 4-7 and a couple other paperbacks, and those are in a stack on the floor (*tear*). But when I had all my books and my bookcase, they were lined up on the shelf, grouped by author, though not in any other kind of order.

Do you make a distinction--as regards book care--between hardcovers and paperbacks?
Not really. I treat 'em both as well as a can.
